Reflection on the Fifth Week of the Traning
We are almost done!! This week was our 5th week, and we only have one week left.
5th week was full of new websites, and we met lots of beneficial tools for teaching the English language.
So today, I am here with incredible websites for you.
Our trainer Melda Yılmaz stared first with Edpuzzle.
Edpuzzle is a website that supplies you turn a video into an interactive material for your lesson. Basically, you search and find a video that you want your students to watch, and for checking their comprehension, you put some questions into this video. You can add different types of questions to your video like multiple-choice, open-ended, or you can record your own voice for a question. The website has access to Youtube, so you can easily find a video and use it in Edpuzzle. Also, you can see students' answers too. I think this website is so efficient for giving homework. Via Edpuzzle, students can both watch a video about your topic, and while answering the questions, they pay attention to the content of the video and develop their comprehension skills.

The second one is Animoto. It is a video-maker website. You can create different kinds of videos using this website. There are lots of options, and the site is so practical to use. I think creating and editing a photo or a video can be a little difficult at the beginning. But when you get used to it, they are so entertaining to do. With Animoto, lots of authentic and unique videos, materials for your topics and use them in the class. Also, I think group tasks can be given to students. So they can interact and collaborate while creating something related to the language that they are learning.

The third one is Renderforest. It is a video-maker too. So basically, you can create videos and use them in your class as well as Animoto. But Renderforest supply you to make logos, creatiıng websites, graphic design besides videos.

And one more video- creating website too; Thinlink. With Thinglink you can create images and videos. It uses Microsoft Gold and Google Cloud as partners for education purposes. When you create an image or a video you can add lots of things to them, like texts, information, extra video, and so on. So this website makes the learning interactive and supplies students with authentic materials. I think the use of this website for teaching a language is so effective and both learners and teachers can benefit from it.

And creating timeliness!! The other website that we met is Tiki- Toki. This is a super website for creating timelines. Our trainer showed us some examples, and it was so impressive. The timelines are not formed with simple lines and directions, they can be formed as interactive and full as possible, you can add information, images, videos to your timeline. For specific topics in the English language, I think it can be used for sure. Teachers can create timelines and use them in class or give students access to use them so they can learn the topic on their own too.

And lastly, our trainer showed us the website that we will design our web pages. It is Weebly. By using Weebly, you can create your personal website. Actually, I am very excited to use it. We haven't started to create our website yet but we will start it as soon as possible. As far as I see the examples from our trainer, the website gives lots of creative opportunities for you to personalize and organize your webpage.

After our trainer showed us these wonderful websites, we shared one or two websites with our friends as groups.
My group shared two websites that can be effective for language learning and teaching; Seesaw and Voscreen. In my previous posts, you can find Seesaw and analyze it easily. And with Voscreen you can give lots of different listening input to your students. On the website, you should select the level and the topic for appropriate listenings, and then the website presents you with different short scenes from various films and asks what the speaker said. All the students have to do is selecting the correct sub. By using voscreen students empose to different accents and real language use. So I think it is really an effective tool for learning.
Other websites that other groups shared were Ispring solution, Quizlet, and Venngage. With Quizlet, you can prepare lots of vocabulary exercises for your students, it gives lots of framework for vocab memorizing activities. All the exercises have a ready layout so all you have to do is, finding a topic and write down the related words. And with Venngage, you can create lots of things from a lesson plan to a logo. It is similar to Canva but our friend said it gives much more opportunities than Canva.
We loved all the websites and see how many different and practical tools we have thanks to the internet. I hope you find them useful and use them in your teaching and learning process.
